EstyJanuary 26, 2026

More Than Just Rankings

If you are moving to Greenwich, the school conversation starts immediately. And while the public schools are excellent, the private school ecosystem here is world-class. But looking at websites doesn't tell you the culture.

Brunswick & Greenwich Academy

The titans. Brunswick (boys) and GA (girls) are loosely affiliated but separate. They offer rigorous academics and massive campuses. The Vibe: Competitive, spirited, and deeply connected. If you want your child to have a network for life, this is it.

Greenwich Country Day School (GCDS)

The "Tiger Pride" is real. Co-ed and now N-12, GCDS is known for a slightly warmer, more "whole child" approach while still being academically intense. The Vibe: Community-focused, slightly more progressive than the single-sex schools, with incredible facilities.

Whitby School

The Montessori / IB hybrid. If you want your child to learn how to learn rather than just memorizing facts for a test, look here. The Vibe: International, thoughtful, and distinct from the "prep school" mold.

The "Feeder" Myth

Don't pick a school just because you think it gets your kid into Harvard. Pick the environment where your child will actually be happy. An unhappy kid won't thrive anywhere.
